Batt’s Cottage is a fully self contained superb Georgian convict built cottage. Built in 1840 and National Trust Registered, the cottage has been recently and tastefully restored to provide all modern facilities and conveniences whilst maintaining its historic, rustic charm.

There are two bedrooms, the main has a queen size bed and the second bedroom has two singles. All beds have electric blankets and separate electric heating. The open plan lounge and kitchen has a large open log fireplace which provides a romantic atmosphere whilst warming the whole cottage on cold nights. The fire is pre set and ample firewood is provided.

An open vine covered courtyard with outdoor furniture and a large gas barbecue leads to a separate bunkhouse which sleeps five. (One double and three singles). Ideal for the children! The lounge sofa converts to a double bed if necessary and also available on request are additional fold up beds, a baby’s cot and a high chair.

Basic breakfast provisions, which include tea, coffee, milk, a choice of cereals, fruit packs and a variety of spreads, are provided.

Bothwell is centrally located and an ideal base for further exploration of Tasmania. Just an hour north of Hobart and within easy reach of the southern tourist destinations, other roads from Bothwell lead north via The Great Lake to Launceston and Devonport, west via Hamilton to Strahan and southwest via Gretna to the beautiful Derwent Valley.

Bothwell is the natural gateway to Tasmania’s lake country, with world class trout fisheries in its beautiful lakes, rivers and streams, the area is popular with anglers, tourists and bushwalkers alike. Steeped in history, with over 50 buildings classified or registered by the National Trust, Bothwell also boasts the oldest golf course in the southern hemisphere and the Australasian Golf Museum.
